Ground squirrels and rattlesnakes are way cool because...
Did you know that ground squirrels don't run away when they find a rattlesnake? Instead, they move closer (often within striking distance!) and begin waving their tail side-to-side as they stare at the rattlesnake. Why do ground squirrels do this? Matt Barbour, a Ph.D. student in the Biodiversity Research Centre, will let you in on the secret behind this fascinating interaction.

Surviving in a "Winter Wonderland" 
Visit the Beaty Museum this holiday season to discover some of the amazing adaptations that organisms have to survive one of the most challenging times of the year. Programs run until February 10, 2012.
