Collections Experience

Grades 8-12, Post-Secondary, Adults |  60 minutes | Tour

Collections Experience_thumbnailThe museum contains a vast collection of specimens totalling over two million specimens. These are categorized into our six collections: Cowan Tetrapod, Marine Invertebrates, Herbarium, Spencer Entomological, Fish, and Fossils.

Behind the cabinets and doors of the Beaty Museum are the people and specimens that make it tick. Unveil the stories and processes that support the museum, and get behind-the-scenes access with a curator. Plan extra time before and after your experience to explore and enjoy the museum.

This is a special tour with limited availability offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and fulfilled on curatorial availability. Please indicate the collection(s) you are most interested in. Requests with lots of notice and some flexibility are more likely to be filled. Maximum group size: 20 people.

Please select this option for all behind-the-scenes requests, including, but not limited to, workshops and lab tours. Pricing and timing will be set according to your request.

Due to the availability of curators, we suggest you choose an alternative tour or program that would fulfil your needs, in case a curator is not available on your selected date. We may be able to extend our suggested grades to younger audiences, please contact us well in advance to inquire.
