Fall into new tours at the Beaty Museum

Autumn is a time for renewal for many of us, and at UBC it’s easy to see students getting back to their studies. One way we can continue learning outside of school is to take part in new experiences. This fall, we are offering six new guided tour options, and a free audio tour!

Our brand-new collections tours are a one-hour bookable experience, featuring your choice of our six collections: TetrapodsMarine InvertebratesHerbariumEntomologyFish, or Fossils. Led by our fabulous interpreters, expect to learn about how your chosen collection fits into the museum, some of their favourite stories, and get hands-on with specimens from the collection in the discovery lab. These are a great option for grades 7+, clubs, and adult groups.

Though most of our museum tours and programs are booked by schools, you can book them for family, colleagues, clubs, seniors, and more! Want to celebrate a special occasion or achievement at the museum? Book a tour or program and head over to one of the great coffee shops or restaurants on campus. Starting at $9 per person, private tours are an economical group option.

Not sure how to choose a tour? Take our quiz to let us pick for you!

Thinking about these questions may also help you choose:

  • What’s your favourite group of organisms?
  • What group do you wish you knew more about?
  • Is your group or school focusing on a particular topic?
  • Is there an area of the museum you haven’t seen before?
  • Who are you wanting to visit with?

If a group experience isn’t your thing, try out our free audio tour. Explore the museum at your own pace, and use your own device and headphones to access the audio files and text transcripts over the museum’s visitor wifi.

We hope that you will enjoy our new tours as much as we’ve enjoyed writing them. See you soon!
