The Yellow-faced Bumble bee – Jennifer Lipka

The Yellow-faced Bumble bee

Vancouver, BC (Dunbar Community Centre)

This is the native Yellow-faced bumble bee (Bombus vosnesenskii) in the garden at Dunbar Community Centre, one of our research sites. My research is in collaboration with two UBC research groups; the PIEE Lab and the PCIGR. This summer we are evaluating quality of host plants, including nectar quality and environmental contaminants (e.g. lead and other heavy metals) present in bumblebees and floral nectar.
