Visit the Beaty Biodiversity Museum in person for a professional development day. Learn how we can support your lessons with curriculum links in our exhibits, activities, and programs.

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is a great place to take your class. Whether you teach elementary, secondary, or post-secondary, your lessons can be supported by our exhibits, activities, and programs. Learn about the onsite and digital opportunities available to your school at the museum, and the offerings we have for this year.

K-12 teachers and all other educators, including home-learning facilitators, librarians, early learning specialists, pre-service teachers, and post-secondary faculty, are welcome to attend this professional development day.

In order to maintain a comfortable visiting experience, book a timed ticket with the timeslot when you will arrive at the museum. Drop-ins are not permitted!

  • Visit the PME team under the whale to learn more about Earth science education opportunities!
  • Just across Main Mall is the 
    Pacific Museum of Earth (PME), Vancouver’s “Hidden Gem”, a museum filled with climate, geology, fossil, and mineral exhibits for self-led activities all day.

CEDAR STEM Outreach and Mentorship
  • Since 2005, CEDAR STEM Outreach and Mentorship has supported scientific learning for Indigenous youth on the UBC Vancouver Campus. In the many years that CEDAR has been running, hundreds of Indigenous youth have come to the Musqueam campus, with several participants returning as students in a variety of degree programs.

  • Meet staff from X̱wi7x̱wa Library, the only Indigenous branch of an academic library in Canada.
  • X̱wi7x̱wa Library is a centre for academic and community Indigenous scholarship. Its collections and services reflect Indigenous approaches to teaching, learning, and research. Everyone is welcome to visit X̱wi7x̱wa Library!
  • Take time to look through their Research Guides, which are an amazing resource for your classroom.

      • Yes, you can bring your children and a partner to the museum for free but the activities are created with teachers in mind.


        • Free for all educators – K-12 teachers, home-learning facilitators, librarians, early-learning specialists, and post-secondary faculty are welcome to attend this professional development day.
        • Please bring an ID card (Teacher Federation, Association ID, or employer). Pre-service teachers can show their Student Cards for free entry. If you do not have a card, bring in a paystub or letter on letterhead from your employer or association for free entry.
