Avoiding the insect apocalypse

Special Seminar with Dr. John Fryxell of the University of Guelph

There has been a good deal of discussion recently about troubling declines in insect abundance and diversity on a global scale. Dr. Fryxell will briefly review some of the evidence behind this narrative, consider causal factors that may be responsible, and outline new methodological and analytical tools that may help us to gain some scientific traction in solving this kind of wicked problem. Examples will be drawn heavily from recent collaborative studies conducted as part of the Food from Thought research program in association with the Alternative Land Use System (ALUS) across agroecosystem landscapes in southern Ontario.
