Beaty Nocturnal: Fossils with Dr. Bruce Archibald

The Red Queen, the Court Jester, Fossil Lacewings, Winter, and the Evolution of Bats!

Green lacewings are familiar favorites of organic gardeners because of their great appetite for aphids. But how did they change over millions of years since the time of the dinosaurs to become the attractive, helpful creatures of your garden today? Curator of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum fossil collection paleontologist Dr. Bruce Archibald will talk about what the fossil record of these insects shows us about their response to change in climate and the evolution of bats, and how this illustrates some of the ways that evolution works.
