Beaty Nocturnal: Vanishing

Vanishing Exhibition Panel:

This panel discussion will consider innovative approaches to creative collaboration across disciplines and how activating aesthetic reconsideration of scientific collections addresses our present moment of ecological precarity. The event is held in conjunction with the exhibition Vanishing, presenting new work by 2023 Karsh Award photo-based artist Christine Fitzgerald. Integrating historical and current photographic technologies, Fitzgerald examines specimens— long ago acquired for natural history collections and many now extinct—as signposts of the fragility of life in the hands of human action.

Panellists:

Christine Fitzgerald, Photo-based Artist;
Ildiko Szabo, Collections Curator of Birds, Beaty Biodiversity Museum;
Nicole Balsdon, Teaching & Learning Coordinator, Beaty Biodiversity Museum.

Moderator:
