he BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund was founded by Captain Alex Blake from the Coquitlam Fire Department. The Burn Fund was created as a province-wide initiative after four decades of Fire Fighters visiting patients in the Burn Unit, seeing the need for help, and contributing money.
The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund was founded by Captain Alex Blake from the Coquitlam Fire Department. The Burn Fund was created as a province-wide initiative after four decades of Fire Fighters visiting patients in the Burn Unit, seeing the need for help, and contributing money. Since it was founded the Burn Fund has helped build burn units at hospitals, funded wound healing research, educated the public on burn prevntion, and created programming for child and adult survivors of burns among other things.
The Future Is Mine, an adult burn community support group within the Burn Fund organizes outings for members of the burn community. Last month they came to visit us here at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and had a private tour with our Interpreter Sheila. Here they are pictured at the end of the tour applauding Sheila.
