Orangutans are Way Cool because…

Orangutans are one of our closest living relatives, sharing 97% of their DNA with humans.

However, human development activities have marginalised and fragmented wild orangutan populations, pushing them to the brink of extinction. Habitat loss and hunting have resulted in many orangutans becoming displaced or orphaned and finding solutions for these individuals has become a top priority.

Join Jacqui Sunderland-Groves to find out more about these unique, sentient beings and how they are being reintroduced into safe forest areas to bolster conservation of the species in the wild.

Included with museum admission or membership.

You can also follow the amazing journey of hundreds of orangutans being cared for by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation as they learn the skills they need to survive in the wild through a new series, Orangutan Jungle School, which airs in Canada from 2 December on Love Nature.
