Highlights some of the fascinating research being done with our collections and by researchers in the Biodiversity Research Centre, followed by a laboratory tour and informal chat with a researcher.

Since the lab and researcher are always changing, specific grade points might not always be touched on. The scientific method and principles of research will always be highlighted.

  • Grade 8: Cells and systems, water systems on earth
  • Grade 9: Reproduction
  • Grade 10: Sustainability of ecosystems, energy transfer in natural systems
  • Grade 11: Taxonomy, evolution, ecology, microbiology, plant biology, animal biology
  • Grade 12: Cell biology including DNA replication and protein synthesis, human biology
  • Grades 8-12: Scientific method, safety, representing and interpreting scientific information, scientific literacy, ethical behaviour and cooperative skills, application of scientific principles, science-related technology
