I captured this photo of an Orange-breasted sunbird (Anthobaphes violacea) while birding in South Africa for a scientific conference. This bird is restricted to one of the most interesting ecosystems in the world, the Western Cape of Africa. This area is filled with plants, birds, and mammals found nowhere else on Earth and would make for a fascinating area of study.
